Practical Application of Artifical Intelligence in the Purchasing Department

My name is Arkadiusz Skuza. Artificial intelligence is dynamically changing the landscape of many areas of business, and the Purchasing Department is one of those that can benefit most from its practical application. I have designed this workshop to equip procurement professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively use AI tools and techniques in their daily work. I will focus on specific, practical applications that lead to measurable savings, increased operational efficiency, and better risk management. The total duration of the workshop is 8 hours.

  • Take a conscious approach to data security and compliance (GDPR, AI Act) when implementing AI solutions.
  • Influence productivity growth and generate savings in the Purchasing Department.

Target Group

Employees of the Purchasing Department.

Methodology

My workshop is highly interactive and practical. It combines the presentation of key theoretical concepts with intensive practical exercises, case study analysis, and demonstrations of tools in action. Participants will work individually and in small groups, actively participating in discussions and solving tasks.

To ensure effectiveness and full engagement, participants are required to have a quiet workspace, a microphone and camera turned on, and the ability to fully focus on the workshop content. A 10-minute break for rest and regeneration is scheduled during each hour of training.

Tools and Platforms

During the practical part of the workshop, I will demonstrate and use examples of publicly available AI-based tools and platforms that can support purchasing processes. These examples include data analysis tools, language models (LLMs) supporting document creation and communication, task automation platforms, and tools to support negotiation decisions. In the workshop, I will present about 10 types or areas of application for such tools, without specifying the names of specific commercial products.

Case Studies

During the workshop, I will discuss and analyze at least four practical case studies of AI implementations in European companies from various industries. These examples will show how AI is used to:

  • Optimize expense analysis and identify areas for savings.
  • Supporting strategic supplier management and risk assessment in the supply chain.
  • Automating purchasing document processing, such as comparing offers and analyzing contracts.
  • Increasing operational efficiency and reducing the time needed to complete key purchasing tasks.
  • Supporting sustainable purchasing practices through ESG data analysis.
